I am a national romantic from Hordaland, Norway. I am obsessed with our history, nature and landscape, from the majestic mountains to the deep fjords, and all the way to the wildest oceans. I often use these factors in my work, describing the world around us, in the language of music. Since I have been playing percussion in brass band for several years, that was my natural choice of orchestra for which to write music.
I am also a big fan of film music, which is another factor in my work. I mostly try to put my music in that same genre, because I often wite music for a "scene" which I envision in my mind. Other times I simply improvise.
I have always enjoyed music. Ever since I was a litle child, and wanted more than anything to play in the local schoolband. That said, I have never actually studied music. I can read sheet music, and I can improvise on a piano. But I am learning as I work and experiment with diferent themes and tunes.
What fascinates me the most about music is that it takes me on a journey in another existence. It is actually a bit intoxicating, that way. Not to mention the feeling I get when everything fits perfectly together. In short terms: music is my life.
